Holiday

July 10th, 2008

Yay, I’m glad I finally have a holiday. 3 weeks holiday is just perfect for me. Finally got the time to finish those stuff that I downloaded few months ago.

First off, Macross 7. Finally finished, but the ending is kinda crappy for me. SDF Macross seems like heaven compared to M7, although SDF Macross ending still feels like dragging. I particularly like the songs from Fire Bomber in M7, guess that’s the only thing good in the show. Please don’t compare visual, both are done at least 10 years ago.

Next, the Appleseed anime film I downloaded. I thought I downloaded a really good version, but once I played them, it’s English dubbed, WTF!! NO NO!! I don’t want English dubbed, so went and do some searching and found the Japanese version I want. Only few options left and I choose the HD version 1280 x 720 with 4gb++ size. Yay!! So far only finish downloading the first film, which was done in 2004. I’m glad I downloaded the HD version, as dis film has some really impressive visual. Story is excellent, my cup of tea, post apocalyptic world, genetic engineering, I love it! Waiting for its sequel, Appleseed Ex Machina, should be done in the next couple of days, and of course, I go for HD version as well.

I also finished a Romanian film recently, called 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days. This film won the Palme d’Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, which is not an easy feat. As a film freak, surely I gotta watch it. I always wanna finish this film but due to some shit assignments, I couldn’t. My reaction after finishing the film was “Excellent Film!! No wonder it won so many awards!” Oscar even changed its foreign film nomination procedure because this film, along with Persepolis, fail to enter even their nomination for best foreign film. The plot revolves around a girl helping her roommate to do an abortion. It might sound simple, but along the way, it shows you the situation of a Communist society during the era. Simple to say, you have no freedom (visiting a hotel room needs you to leave ur ID at the reception, OMG) and people have no motivation to work (poor service everywhere). The film is excellent nonetheless, but it’s not my cup of tea. I prefer war, post apocalyptic and some really dark film.

I am watching a Japanese drama now, called Long Vacation. This 1996 drama is highly recommended by my sis. So I guess I juz gotta check it out.

Will update my blog after watching Hellboy 2 tomorrow. Hope it’s a good film.
