District 9 Poster

This post might seem a little late, but it’s a result of me being addicted to PS3 recently :P

I just finished District 9 for the 2nd time. (I was 20 mins late for the film on my first viewing) :D

First of all, I like the way alien is portrayed in this film. Not because they look like insects, but at last, aliens that are not blood hungry or they are highly intelligent that they created humans centuries ago, or some other crap. The intelligence of the aliens is perhaps the most interesting point of the film. If they’re not intelligent, how can they have such advanced weaponry? They can easily conquer the entire Africa with their weapons. I speculate that there are layers of society in their species, and these are the lowest of them, and there are highly intelligent type such as Christopher. (I suspect he is the captain of this ship, where he has control over the command module) They are even willing to sell a weapon 100 times more advanced than earth weaponry for cat food? I was quite amazed at this, really.

The setting of the film is also an interesting point. Look at some Hollywood blockbuster, such as 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Independance Day, etc etc. They have something in common, in that America is always the first place to kena whatever hell unleashed on earth. Come on, America is just a small part of earth!! In choosing Africa, it was like whites and blacks racism in colonial era, where certain areas are only accessible to white people, and other unfair race based treatment, just like those depicted in this film. Nice one!!

This is an excellent realistic sci-fi action film, not some robots vs robots madness which I don’t even know what’s happening on the battlefield, and please, no short pant wearing girl showing her ass on a motor bike. There are enough pure entertaining films in the market now that doesn’t require your brain to think. For some people, it’s perfectly fine, but for me, I want something that keeps me thinking during the film or even after it, to think why his happens and what does this action mean, etc. Must be mind provoking!!!

That’s all. Good night.

Hello world

December 1st, 2009

Hi, it’s been a long time!! I will try to blog here as much as possible!!

Nothing much about me recently, except that I am working everyday and playing my PS3 after work at home. On weekends, I mostly hang out at malls.

Last saturday, I went to a paintball session with my friends. Nice one, although kinda expensive. I seriously think we should call it “PAINBALL” as a direct hit on your body would leave bruises for days, eg, my finger.

Everyone in our paintball session

Everyone in our paintball session

It was an enjoyable session, but I am yet to find the culprit that shoots me even when I have surrendered. Best of all, I get to see Han Wei pants bao tyre!!! I am sounding like a crazy maniac.

Overall, paintball is a really exciting activity. Can get you all pumped up in action, and test your courage and bravery.

I am looking forward to the next session, but please dun make it so soon. Go go go Jit Min!!!

The Crisis of Credit Visualized from Jonathan Jarvis on Vimeo

Anyone who wanna know how the financial crisis happens can watch the video above. I highly recommend it to anyone, as this global recession will soon affect our country and will only get worse and worse. Credits to Jonathan Jarvis for this wonderful video. His thesis work is so beautifully done yet so educational.

Below are extracts from the video site.

The goal of giving form to a complex situation like the credit crisis is to quickly supply the essence of the situation to those unfamiliar and uninitiated. This project was completed as part of my thesis work in the Media Design Program, a graduate studio at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

My BORED Chinese New Year

February 19th, 2009

Greetings, my faithful readers. Due to Emoly’s request for a post regarding our CNY gathering, I will write a bit about it and how I spent my super bored CNY as well. By the way, Emoly, why don’t you start a blog and write about it yourself as well? :P You had the pictures too!

I started the CNY without any celebrating mood. I don’t know why, but maybe it’s because I started working. I guess I had a different mindset, or mayb because I knew I had to start working on the 3rd day.

I spent my 1st day with my family, visiting some relatives. Nothing special.

The 2nd day was spent visiting some of my friends houses. Hmm, nothing memorable except my parents and Ping Soon’s parents saying we really look alike. Heck, they’re wrong of course, I am way cooler than him. :D By the way, anyone of you know any looklike competition? Let us know, I think we can get top 3 at least.

That’s roughly all. I started working on the 3rd day because I can only have unpaid leave for now, and since I am not in the mood for CNY, I guess I should just work for the pay. This makes the already bored CNY worse. Awwwww….

Woot..

Woot.. perfect match !! lol

During the weekend, we got together for a gathering at Fai’s house for a short but grand lou sang session, lol. Hmmm, I guess the usual gang came except Louis. The gathering was quite short because most of us need to send our partner back early, including me. :D We gambled for a while, and fortunately, I won some money, which is quite rare on the occasion considering how much I lost before that.

I think the surprise moment came when Wa Chung asked Moon to join us. Other than that, it’s just a normal gathering and a bit of chit chat.

The best thing about this CNY was probably the food. My company had 4 lou sang sessions and 2 was done in a pretty good restaurant, Tai Thong and Marco Polo. I think the food in Tai Thong is better, plus the food’s design was quite innovative.

That’s all.
